In a recent interview to an Italian newspaper, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi reportedly alleged that India is already experiencing fascism, and "Parliament is no longer working".

Speaking to Corriere della Serra, Gandhi said that he has not been allowed to speak in Parliament for two years, as his microphone is switched off. Gandhi reportedly said, "The balance of powers is off. Justice is not independent. Centralism is absolute. The press is no longer free."

The Congress leader said that PM Narendra Modi can be beaten if a "vision" is opposed as "fascism is defeated by offering an alternative".
