Union Minister of State for Home Nisith Pramanik's convoy faced a hail of stones after it was attacked allegedly by a TMC-backed mob in West Bengal's Cooch Behar on Saturday.

The mob attacked Pramanik's SUV with sticks and hurled stones damaging its windshield and making the minister run for his life. Pramanik is a MP from the area.

Footage shared by ANI shows Pramanik surrounded by supporters while a mob with sticks tries to break the barrier created by security personnel.

Speaking with the news agency, the minister slammed the ruling TMC and said "Democracy in the state has collapsed. If a minister is not safe in the state then just think of the common man's plight."
