With elections to Delhi's civic body expected to be announced soon, Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched an attack on the Aam Aadmi Party.Shah said that Arvind Kejriwal's party wanted Delhi to be "AAP-nirbhar", or dependent on AAP, while the BJP wanted Delhi to be "atmanirbhar", or self-reliant.
The BJP leader also said that the AAP government was spending heavily on publicity because of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's belief that development comes from advertisements. Shah said that it was up to the people to choose between "vigyapan ki rajneeti" (politics of advertisements) and "vikas ki rajneeti" (politics of development) in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections.
Shah also accused the AAP government in Delhi of having a step-motherly attitude towards the erstwhile 3 civic bodies by not paying them ₹40,000 crore which was due to them.
The Union minister was speaking at the launch of a waste-to-energy plant in south Delhi on 20 October 2022.
