On Day 2 of the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Madhya Pradesh, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was joined by his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, her husband Robert Vadra, and their son Raihan. Senior MP Congress leaders Kamal Nath and Digvijaya Singh have also joined the Yatra.
On 24 November 2022, the march began from Borgaon in Khandwa, with the birthplace of Tantia Bheel as a major stop. Bheel was a freedom fighter and a tribal icon.
With the Congress looking to woo the tribal community with this outreach, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party also launched a counter campaign. On 23 November 2022, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the BJP's Janjatiya Gaurav Yatra from Tantia Bheel's birthplace.
The same day, Rahul Gandhi accused the BJP of paying bribes worth crores to some corrupt Congress MLAs and toppling the party's government. Gandhi added that the Congress "hit the road" because "all democratic avenues" were shut under the BJP.
