Reiterating India's unwavering support to Palestine, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the ties between the two countries are rooted in their common history.

In a note on the occasion of International  Day of Solidarity with Palestine, PM Modi underlined India's consistent support to Palestinians economic and social development.

The Prime Minister also hoped that Palestinian and Israeli sides will resume talks to find a comprehensive and negotiated solution.

The India-Palestine ties date back to nearly half a century. India is the first non-Arab country to recognize the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO). It's also among a few countries that have recognized the Palestine State.

Diplomatic ties between the two countries strengthed when India opened a representative office in Gaza. Though it was later shifted to Ramallah.
