JNU: stone-pelting at those watching BBC documentary on PM Modi, claim students; ABVP blamed

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi is once again in the eye of a storm with some students alleging that they were attacked with stones.

The alleged incident occurred when some students tried to hold a screening on 24 January 2023 of a BBC documentary on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the 2002 Gujarat riots, despite denial of permission by the university administration.

Some students had gathered at the JNU students' union office to watch the documentary when a power outage occurred. Subsequently, they gathered at a cafeteria to watch the BBC series on mobile phones and laptops.

Here, stones were pelted allegedly by members of the ABVP, the RSS' student wing. The students then marched to the Vasant Kunj police station to lodge a complaint over the incident.
