Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath faced a hack attack on April 9. The CM's official Twitter account was compromised, and the profile picture and description were changed. Tweets related to non-fungible tokens were posted from the CM Office account.

Subsequently, the account was restored with the mischievous changes and additions being removed. CM Yogi's official account has over 40 lakh followers on Twitter. Adityanath also has a personal Twitter account with over 1.8 crore followers.

In December 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Twitter account had been hacked. A mischievous tweet claiming that India has adopted bitcoin as legal tender was also posted from Modi's account. The hacker had also posted a tweet claiming that the Indian government had bought 500 bitcoin for distribution among the Indian population.
