The fear of land subsidence appears to be spreading beyond the hill state of Uttarakhand.

Some residents of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh have alleged that their houses have developed cracks in recent days as well. The locals blamed a pipeline laid under the Smart City scheme which is now leaking, according to reports.

The Municipal Corporation promised a probe into the concerning incidents.

"We just received information that cracks have been seen in few houses in Aligarh. We will send our team and a probe will be conducted to find out the cause," Additional Commissioner Rakesh Kumar Yadav was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
