7-yr-old extracted from borewell, but declared dead by doctors after 24-hr rescue op

The 7-year-old boy who fell into a borewell in Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha on 14 March 2023 was pulled out around 24 hours later, but could not survive the ordeal.

After being extracted from the borewell, Lokesh Ahirwar was rushed to the government hospital in Lateri, but doctors declared him dead after examination, officials said.

He fell into a 60-foot-deep borewell while playing, and was stuck at a depth of 43 feet. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister announced a compensation of ₹4 lakh for the boy's family.
