Govt's latest push to have a say in Supreme Court appointments: 'representative in collegium' idea

Stepping up its attempt to have a direct say in appointment of judges, the Union Law Minister has written to the Chief Justice of India on the issue, according to sources quoted by NDTV.

Minister Kiren Rijiju has suggested to CJI DY Chandrachud that government representatives be included in the Supreme Court collegium that decides names for higher judiciary.

The minister also said that state representatives should be part of the high court collegium.
