The Delhi L-G office approved the date recommended by the Kejriwal government to elect a mayor on Saturday.

The Kejriwal government had proposed Feb 22 as the day to hold mayor elections for the civic body.

Earlier on Friday, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of AAP govt, saying that the nominated members of the civic body can't vote in the election, adding that the notice to convene the first MCD meet should be issued within 24 hours.

Following the apex court's directive, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's proposed to hold the mayor election on February 22.
