Telangana Labour and Employment Minister Malla Reddy on Tuesday said that the guilty person in the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in Hyderabad "will be arrested and will be killed in an encounter".
"We will catch the rapist and murderer. There will be an encounter after he is caught," Reddy told reporters.
A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by her neighbour in the Singareni colony of Hyderabad in Telangana, last week. The man is yet to be arrested.
However, Telangana Minister KT Ramarao in a tweet had said that the perpetrator was arrested "within hours".
Later, the minister tweeted that he was misinformed about the arrest and he regretted making the statement.

The Hyderabad police have also released a photo of the alleged killer and have announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh for anybody providing information about him.
Initial reports had said the accused had been arrested. But when it emerged that the information was not true.
