Heavy rainfall lashed financial capital Mumbai and other suburban areas including Thane on Wednesday with the advancement of the monsoon in parts of Maharashtra.
The heavy rainfall has lead to flooded roads and subways, and disruption in traffic and local train services
Waterlogging has been reported from several low-lying areas in Mumbai, including the Gandhi Market area of King Circle, from Sion and the Milan subway in Vile Parle.
Mumbai Local train services between Kurla & Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus were halted as water has been flowing over tracks. Central railway CPRO said traffic has been stopped as a precautionary measure to avoid any untoward incident and will resume as soon as water recedes
The IMD issued a warning of a heavy downpour for Mumbai and adjoining areas from June 9 to 13.
