Veteran playback singer Vani Jayaram was found dead at her home in Nungambakkam, Chennai, on February 4. A probe was ordered under suspicious death after bruise marks were found on her forehead. Now, the police have now ruled out any foul play.
According to a preliminary post-mortem report, the singer died of an accidental fall. Vani Jayaram was reportedly alone at the time of her death, and her door was locked from the inside. The authorities were alerted by the singer’s domestic help over no responses to bells and repeated calls.
The CCTV footage near her house has been checked by the police and nothing suspicious has been found. ‘There were no signs of any forced entry into the house,’ police said.
The veteran singer was cremated with state honours on Saturday. Days before her death, she was honoured with Padma Bhushan.
