Suriya-starrer ‘Jai Bhim’ might not be India’s official entry at the Oscars this year but it’s still putting the industry on the world map.

The Academy team uploaded a scene from the film on their official YouTube handle, giving it a special honour under their series titled ‘Scene At The Academy.’

The scene throws the spotlight on a group of people, just released from a local jail and as they walk out, they’re stopped and asked about their caste. Those from the lowermost castes are told to stay back, booked in pending cases and handed over to the local police who pay the prison officer to take them away.

‘Jai Bhim’ is the first Tamil film to have got such an honour by the Academy and Suriya becomes both the first Tamil leading star and producer to have achieved this feat.

Suriya starrer-’Jai Bhim’, shows the actor play the role of a lawyer who fights in court for the tribals and stands against the system for framing the oppressed people in fake charges.
