Just ahead of the Oscars, actor Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor wrote about having nightmares about this year's ‘best actress’. He tweeted that he had nightmares of Cate Blanchett losing out to Michelle Yeoh because of a ‘PR campaign’.
Taking to Twitter, he wrote, ‘I’m getting nightmares about Cate Blanchett losing to Michelle Yeoh at the Oscar’s… how can a PR campaign centred around race put one of the best performances of all time in the shadows? Any opinions guys.’
Cate Blanchett and Michelle Yeoh are nominated under the best actress category for their performance in 'Tar' and ‘Everything Everywhere All At Once’, respectively.
The tweet didn’t go down well with a section of netizens. People called out his tweet for targeting and undermining Michelle's performance.
In reply to a user, the actor also mentioned Michelle Yeoh’s deleted Instagram post in which she had shared screenshots of a Vogue article highlighting the systemic racism of Hollywood, and also included Cate Blanchett's performance.
