Legendary Kathak dancer Pandit Birju Maharaj has passed away at his home in Delhi in the early hours of Monday. According to his granddaughter, the dancer fell sick on Sunday night when he was playing antakshri with his family members. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.
He would have turned 84 next month on 4th February. He was also known as Pandit-ji and Maharaj-ji by his disciples and followers. He was also the recipient of India's second-highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan.
Birju Maharaj had been suffering from a kidney ailment and was under dialysis treatment. Many celebs conveyed their heartfelt condolences on Pandit Birju Maharaj ji's demise.

He taught me the intricacies of dance and Abhinay but never failed to make me laugh at his funny anecdotes.
