The team of ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ made history as they launched their film at the prestigious San Diego Comic-Con on July 20.
This is the first-ever Indian film to be showcased at the event.
Director Nag Ashwin, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, and Amitabh Bachchan (via Zoom) received loud cheers as they took part in a panel discussion at Comic-Con.
Deepika Padukone, a member of SAG, gave the event a miss due to the ongoing Hollywood strike.
At the event, Rana Daggubati said, ‘Indian cinema in on the world stage. We understood what global fandom means... but we were like, now we need to be in the middle of fandom is, and Comic-Con it is!’.
He then introduced Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, and the team.
Kamal Haasan said, ‘What makes Indian cinema so great is the energy our audience brings to our cinema. We make the stories, they make the stars.’
At the event, Nag Ashwin revealed that he took four years for the prep and two years to film.
He said 'Kalki 2898 AD' is a different Indian film with a blend of mythology and science-fiction.
‘It’s still an Indian film at heart, it’s Indian mythology, our culture, from being a south Indian, from being Telugu, from being Indian, from being a fan of Star Wars, all of that love comes into this one thing. It’s a new kind of thing,’ he shared.
'Kalki 2898 AD' is gearing up for a grand release on January 12, 2024.
