Akshay Kumar celebrates Makar Sankranti on 'Bhooth Bangla' set, flies kite with Paresh Rawal

Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar marked the occasion of Makar Sankranti on the sets of his upcoming film Bhooth Bangla in Rajasthan. Sharing a video on Instagram,

Akshay captured the joy of kite flying with his co-star Paresh Rawal.

 


"Celebrating the vibrant spirit of Makar Sankranti on the set of #BhoothBangla with my dear friend @pareshrawalofficial! Here's to laughter, good vibes, and soaring high just like the kites! And sending my best wishes for a joyous Pongal, Uttarayan, and Bihu," Akshay wrote in the caption.

Kite flying is a longstanding tradition during Makar Sankranti, celebrated annually on January 14 across India. The act of flying kites is believed to awaken the gods from their winter slumber.

Akshay’s film Bhooth Bangla, directed by the renowned Priyadarshan, features Tabu in a pivotal role. The actress recently shared her excitement about joining the project, posting a picture of a clapboard with the film's title.

"Hum yahan bandh hain" (Translation: "We are locked here"), Tabu teased on Instagram. Bhooth Bangla marks a reunion between Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after a 14-year gap. The duo previously collaborated on several hit films such as Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhagam Bhag, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa.

Bhooth Bangla falls under the horror-comedy genre, a space where Akshay Kumar has already earned success with films like Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Tabu, celebrated for her versatile roles in films like Andhadhun and Haider, is expected to bring a unique layer to the film.

Produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ektaa R Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms, along with Akshay Kumar’s production house, Cape of Good Films, Bhooth Bangla is scheduled for a theatrical release on April 2, 2026.
