With reports of Ravi Shastri having told few BCCI members of his plans of not continuing as Team India's head coach after the World T20, speculations of Rahul Dravid taking over the top job did the rounds.
But this wish of many Indian cricket fans may not come true as Dravid who was appointed as India's coach for the Sri Lanka tour, has reapplied for the position of Head of Cricket at the National Cricket Academy. However, a senior BCCI source told PTI that there are no other prominent names of stature who have applied for the post. As a result, the Indian board extended the deadline for submission of applications by a few more days to ensure that interested candidates get enough time to apply.
As per the new constitution, since there is no provision for extension and the hiring process has to start afresh, BCCI had to invite applications after Dravid's 2-year contract had ended.
