The Supreme Court on Thursday pronounced its verdict in connection with Facebook India's Vice President, Ajit Mohan’s petition challenging the summons issued against him by the Delhi Assembly Committee in relation to the violence in the national capital.
Supreme Court said Facebook has to appear before Delhi panel in riots probe. The apex court added that Facebook can't be compelled to answer on issues of law and order, which are looked after by the central government.
‘Debates on platforms like Facebook have the potential to polarise the society and less informed individuals may not verify the information and take it as gospel of truth’ the court said during the hearing.
