'Covid still there': Row after Maha minister tweets video of crowd welcoming him

Maharashtra minister Jitendra Awhad's video of a huge crowd welcoming him in Bhiwandi has triggered a controversy with social media users reminding him that Covid is not gone yet.

In the video, many people could be seen hovering near Jitendra Awhad’s convoy for his welcome. The minister's convoy was followed by massive a motorbike rally.

Social media users questioned the huge gathering amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Twitter users asked if a crowd was allowed at political events, why general citizens were restricted from visiting temples and celebrating festivals.

The minister's violation of protocols has raised questions at a time when the government is constantly appealing to people to adhere to Covid-appropriate behaviour
