Amid the raging Covid-19 pandemic, the Centre on Tuesday cancelled the Central Board of School Education examination for standard 12.
The class XII results will be made as per well-defined objective criteria in time-bound manner.
After Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a top level meet, the Centre said in case some students desire to take exams, option would be provided to them by CBSE once situation becomes conducive.
The Centre said the exams were cancelled after review of detailed presentation by officials, consultation with all stakeholders including states.
In a statement, the PM was quoted as saying that anxiety among students, parents, teachers must end and students should not be forced to appear for exams in such stressful situation.
