The decline in the number of Covid-19 cases might also mark the end of the work from home but there are still many who don't want to go back to office.

Acknowledging this clash between employeers and employees, Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella said this tension needed to be resolved as workplaces were unlikely to ever return to pre-pandemic work habits.

According to BBC, he further added that currently, most IT firms suffer high attrition rates and are working hard to recruit and retain staff.

A latest Microsoft survey showed disagreement between workers and bosses on the issue of working from home. 87 per cent of bosses say that the workers worked less efficiently from home compared to the office, and 80 per cent of workers said otherwise, as reported by BBC.

At a time of acute labour shortages, employers are having to work harder to recruit, enthuse and retain staff. That even includes Microsoft itself, according to Mr Nadella.
