PM Modi, while chairing the 13th BRICS summit on Thursday amid the Afghanistan crisis, said the five member group has adopted a counter-terrorism action plan.
In his opening remarks at the virtual summit, PM Modi expressed gratitude to all BRICS members for their ‘full cooperation’ to India during its chairship.
PM Modi upheld the ‘many achievements’ of BRICS in the last one and a half decades and said the members have become an influential voice for the emerging economies of the world. He further added that the platform has also been useful for focusing on the priorities of developing countries.

Talking about the theme India has chosen for its presidency, PM Modi said it reflects the objective to ensure that BRICS is more productive in next 15 years.
The virtual meeting was also attended by Brazil President Jair Bolsanaro, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping were among those who attended.
