Apple has launched a smaller version of the HomePod smart speakers, the HomePod mini. It features the same mesh fabric exterior along with a small display on top to show the Siri waveform and volume controls, but the new model has more of a short, spherical shape.
It gets an Apple S5 chip that allows for “computational audio” processing as well as U1 chips for Ultra Wideband support. The HomePod Mini features a full-range dynamic driver, two passive radiators, and an “acoustic waveguide” on the bottom.
Multiple HomePod mini speakers can play music in sync and create stereo pairing, while the new ‘Intercom’ feature allows users to communicate throughout the house.
Apple has also promised support for third-party music services, including Amazon Music. The HomePod Mini costs ₹9,900 and will go on sale from November 16.
