According to noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is looking to shift to in-house 5G modems in iPhones and iPads.

Currently, the company uses Qualcomm’s 5G modems, like many of its Android competitors. Apple has been working on its own modem designs since at least last year, after it acquired Intel’s smartphone modem business.

The 2023 lineup of iPhone and iPad devices are currently expected to feature Apple’s in-house 5G modems. The company also made a shift to in-house chipsets with its Apple M1 SoC, currently in use in Macbooks, Macs, and iPads.
