The Enforcement Directorate seems to be tightening its grip on Tollywood actors in connection with the drugs racket which had rocked the south film industry four years ago.
Actor Rakul Preet Singh on Friday was seen at the office of the Enforcement Directorate in Mumbai. The central probe agency has already summoned more than 12 actors and directors from the south film industry, including 'Baahubali' actor Rana Daggubati, Ravi Teja, Charmee Kaur, Navdeep among others.
The drugs racket was busted in July 2017 when customs officials arrested Calvin Mascarenhas, a musician, and two others and seized drugs worth Rs 30 lakh from their possession.
The Telangana Excise Department then constituted an SIT for a comprehensive probe, following which 12 cases were registered, 30 people were arrested, while 11 people connected with Tollywood were questioned.
The ED was roped into the alleged high-profile drugs case, after Telangana SIT arrested a South African national in August 2017 for allegedly supplying cocaine from Mumbai to Hyderabad.
Rakul Preet, who has also featured in some Tollywood movies, was asked to join the probe in September. Rana Daggubati has been summoned by the ED on September 8.

Rakul Preet Singh was last seen in 'Sardar Ka Grandson' opposite Arjun Kapoor. The film released on Netflix as theatres remained shut amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
