AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday announced that his party will contest 100 seats in the 2022 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Owaisi also said his party would contest the polls in alliance with Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party patron Om Prakash Rajbhar who has formed an alliance called 'Bhagidari Sankalp Morcha'.
Besides AIMIM and SBSP, the Bhagidari Sankalp Morcha includes eight other parties, such as Krishna Patel's Apna Dal, Jan Adhikar Party and Chandrashekar Ravan's Azad Samaj Party.
In last year's Bihar Assembly elections, the AIMIM contested 20 seats and won five -- all in the Muslim-dominated Seemanchal region which shares border with West Bengal.
However, the party drew a blank in the recent assembly elections in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu.
