A day after Wimbledon Champion Ashleigh Barty landed in Japan for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Australia's chef de mission Ian Chesterman confirmed that the top-ranked women's singles star won't be staying at the official Olympic Games Village.

The decision was made keeping in mind the rising number of Covid-19 cases at the Games Village in Tokyo. Barty along with many Aussie Olympic athletes will be putting up in hotels near the Games Village.
