The political turmoil in Pakistan is making waves in other countries too. The fight between Imran Khan and his opponents led to protests in the United Kingdom. However, the demonstrations took a turn for the worse when Imran Khan's ex-wife Jemima Goldsmith was targeted, and even allegedly threatened.

It started with protests outside the UK residence of former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The protests were conducted by supporters of Imran Khan's party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, or PTI.

Subsequently, supporters of Nawaz Sharif's Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz party, or PML-N, reached Jemima Goldsmith's residence to stage a counter-protest.

Jemima took a jibe at Imran Khan's slogan of 'Naya Pakistan', or New Pakistan, with the hashtag 'Purana Pakistan', or Old Pakistan. She said that there were protests outside her house, her children were being targeted, and she was facing anti-Semitic abuse on social media.

Jemima also claimed that protestors gathered outside her 88-year-old mother's house, and threatened to enter Jemima's bedroom.

The protests have been sparked by Imran Khan's ouster as Pakistan PM after a no-confidence motion in the Pakistan National Assembly.

Imran Khan and Jemima Goldsmith were married from 1995 to 2004. They have two children, Qasim and Sulaiman. Jemima is the daughter of billionaire James Goldsmith, and her brother is a UK minister.
