The chief of USA's spy agency CIA on 26 February 2023 commented on China's possible plan to invade Taiwan.

Central Intelligence Agency director William Burns said that Chinese President Xi Jinping and the military leadership have doubts about successfully invading Taiwan after seeing Russia's experience in Ukraine.

In an interview aired on 26 February, the spy chief said that USA must take Xi Jinping's ambition to control Taiwan "very seriously", even if it doesn't lead to military conflict.

He reportedly added that risk of a "potential use of force" will "probably grow" in the next few years, and the next decade.
