Even as many Ukrainians and non-Ukrainians try to flee the country amid Russian attacks, one American actor and filmmaker has travelled to Ukraine to capture the unfolding events.
Oscar-winning Hollywood star Sean Penn is in Ukraine to shoot a documentary on the ongoing conflict. He was seen wearing a military helmet and vest as he toured many places, and interacted with Ukrainian soldiers, while his crew captured everything on camera. The visuals were captured before fighting broke out on February 24.

After war broke out, Penn also visited the Ukrainian President's office, and reportedly met Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He also attended a press briefing by the president's advisor in Kyiv.
The Ukrainian government said that the actor-filmmaker is in Kyiv to "specifically record as a documentary filmmaker all the events that are currently taking place in Ukraine and to convey to the world the truth about Russia's invasion of our country. Sean Penn is among those who support Ukraine. Our country is grateful to him for such a display of courage and honesty."
