Russia-Ukraine crisis: A day after a blistering attack on Ukraine from land, air and sea, Russian forces are closing in on Capital Kyiv.

Russian forces are making advances as Moscow has continued to flow forces into the country.

Loud explosions were reported in Kyiv as Russian forces launched an assault. US and Ukrainian officials say Russia aims to capture Kyiv and topple the government.

Ukraine’s military has said that Russian forces aim to block Kyiv while creating a land corridor on the southern coast towards the annexed Crimea peninsula and the Transdniestria region of Moldova.

More that 130 people were killed in Russian strikes on Ukraine on Day 1. Russian President Vladimir Putin had on Thursday insisted that Russian forces were not entering Ukraine to take over.

Ukraine has termed Russian attack a full scale invasion and has vowed to fight back. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on Ukrainians to join the fight and has promised arms to anyone who is ready to fight.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has also expressed his disappointment over Western response to the Russian aggression saying Ukraine has been left alone to fight.
