Social media platform Twitter has reportedly removed blue ticks from accounts belonging to leaders of the Afghan Taliban.

The blue ticks, which used to signify account verification, had reportedly been purchased by Taliban's Hedayatullah Hedayat and Abdul Haq Hammad. Hedayat is the chief of Taliban's department for access to information, while Hammad is head of the media watchdog at the ministry of information and culture.

Blue tick verification was made a paid service by Elon Musk after his takeover of Twitter.
