The Centre has told the Delhi High Court that it views WhatsApp’s privacy policy as violating India’s IT Laws. The Centre has sought directives from the court to WhatsApp to make it clear if it is conforming to India’s laws.
The government made the admission before a Delhi High Court bench hearing several petitions challenging WhatsApp’s new privacy policy, which came into effect on May 15.
WhatsApp has stopped short of deleting accounts of users who have not yet accepted the policy, but will increasingly limit functionality unless they accept.
