Did too much concentration of power with the chief minister's office lead to exit of Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat? Reports say that the CM had as many as 45 departments under him and refused to expand his Cabinet despite repeated assurances. Uttarakhand can have 12 ministers, but Rawat only appointed six. Reports say that BJP MLAs were also peeved at highhandedness of the bureaucracy in the state. Reports quoting BJP sources said that the central leadership was local leaders that there was growing anti-incumbency against the first-time CM and BJP has little chance of coming back to power next year under him. Centralisation of power with the Chief Minister’s Office was one of the primary causes of discontent among MLAs and other party leaders, reports said.
