An open-source website called 'Sulli Deals' has been taken down after massive outrage online. The website put about 90 Muslim women, mostly Indians, ‘on sale’.

Photos of journalists, activists, analysts, artists and researchers, along with their name and Twitter handle were uploaded and put up 'for auction' on an app using the software development platform GitHub. 'Sulla' or 'Sulli' is a derogatory term used to refer to Muslim women.

The website and its screengrabs started doing the rounds of social media on Sunday, when a Twitter user found the link shared it. The owners of the website were not immediately known. However, following the outrage, GitHub, which hosted the site, took it down.
