Minutes after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's flight landed at the Lucknow airport  fresh controversy erupted after he was stopped from traveling to Lakhimpur Kheri in his own vehicle

The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday allowed Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and three others to visit Lakhimpur Kheri where eight people, including four farmers died in Sunday’s violence.

UP Police refused to allow the Lok Sabha MP to leave in his own transport and insisted he takes a police car, citing his ‘security’.

Rahul Gandhi was surrounded by security staff when he refused to be driven to Lakhimpur Kheri in an official car.
