Heavy rains and flash floods continue to wreak havoc in Uttarakhand.

Just last week a bridge over the Jakhan river had collapsed due to heavy rain and flooding. Now, an alternative route on Dehradun-Ranipokhari-Rishikesh highway created to facilitate movement of people and small vehicles has also been swept away due to flash flood triggered by heavy rains on Monday night.

Visuals shared by news agency ANI showed gushing flood water sweeping away a tanker and trees as the bridge lay broken over the river.

Uttarakhand has been facing heavy rainfall over the past few days causing severe damage to property in the state, especially in Dehradun, Nainital, Pauri, Tehri, and Rishikesh. Many areas of the state have seen massive landslides due to heavy rain.
