BTS spoke before a largely empty General Assembly, with Covid-19 restrictions in place, with delegates in the front rows listening in silence.
After making their remarks, the pop stars put out a pre-recorded video of them performing to their hit track 'Permission to Dance'.
BTS was introduced at the UNGA by South Korean President Moon Jae-in who has given the pop stars special diplomatic passports, to seize on the global popularity of K-pop.
