The Christmas nativity scene of the Vatican was unveiled at a ceremony on Friday, which was followed by the lighting of a 28-metre-tall red spruce donated by Slovenia.

The Town of Castelli in Central Italy donated the life-sized ceramic nativity scene to the Vatican.

As part of the tradition, Pope Francis visits the manger scene on New Year's Eve. However, it is unclear if he will visit this year owing to the coronavirus restrictions.
