Uttarakhand chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat has triggered a row with his remarks on women wearing ripped jeans. He blamed it on the influence of western culture on India’s youth, stating this behaviour was the opposite of 'sanskari'.
Netizens couldn't take this lying down, with many tagging the minister in their tweets. Soon #RippedJeansTwitter was trending on the microblogging site.
Actor Gul Panag also joined the chorus of mothers showing their ripped jeans, while others questioned the ministers priorities.
