A day after logging under 40,000 new Covid cases on Tuesday, India saw an uptick in the new infections again on Wednesday while fatalities declined further.
The country recorded 45,951 cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, according to the health ministry dashboard. In the same period, 817 people succumbed due to the infection, taking the death toll to 3.98 lakh.
Active cases also fell to 5.37 lakh, which is 1.77% of the total cases.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.34%. It has been less than five per cent for 23 consecutive days, the ministry said, adding the weekly positivity rate has declined to 2.69%.
Over 3.28 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
