In an apparent peace move amid reports of a rift within the UP govt, CM Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday joined RSS leaders for lunch at the home of Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya.
This is for the first time since becoming CM that Adityanath visited his deputy's house, which is barely 200 metre away from the CM's home.
RSS general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale and two other Sangh leaders spent an hour and a half at Maurya's house, where the chief minister and another Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma were also present.
The meeting was described as "informal" and the guests blessed Maurya's recently married son and daughter-in-law.
Recently, Maurya had said the BJP parliamentary board will decide under whose leadership the next assembly elections are to be fought, a remark interpreted by the opposition as a sign of a rift between the CM and his deputy.
