UK rolled out the Oxford-AstraZeneca coronavirus jab on Monday, days after approving the vaccine.
The "game-changing" coronavirus vaccine from Oxford University and AstraZeneca was given to its first patient in the UK. The jab, which is cheaper and easier to roll out en masse than the Pfizer vaccine, was administered to 82-year-old Brian Pinker at Oxford University Hospital
More than half a million doses of the vaccine are ready for use as the UK accelerates its vaccine programme to tackle a surge in cases. The govt described it as a "pivotal moment" in the UK's fight against the virus, as vaccines will help curb infections and, ultimately, allow restrictions to be lifted.
