A day after Dharmendra Chatur stepped down Twitter has appointed California-based Jeremy Kessel as the new grievance officer for India. An update on Twitter’s website on Monday morning flagged the new development.  Kessel is the Global Legal Policy Director of Twitter.

However, Kessel’s appointment is not in line with new IT rules. The new IT guidelines mandate that all nodal officials, including the grievance redressal officer to be based in India.

Twitter is engaged in a tussle with the Indian government over the new social media rules. The microblogging site has drawn flak for failure to fully comply with the new IT rules 2021.
