Tokyo Olympics 2020: Japan hands over Olympic Games flag to Paris for 2024

Thousands of people gathered at the Eiffel Tower as Tokyo handed over the Olympic Games flag to Paris for the year 2024. The handover took place as the Japanese capital city concluded the postponed Summer games. While a stunning closing ceremony lighted up Tokyo, a flyover by jets released blue, white, red smoke in the French capital to celebrate the next Summer Games. The Olympic flag was formally handed over to Paris mayor Annie Hidalgo. French Artist Woodkid also performed during the event.

Paris is set to organize Games after 100 years. The country last hosted the quadrennial event in 1924.
