India's star wrestler Bajrang Punia is out of the Gold Medal race at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics after losing in the semifinal of the Men's 65kg Freestyle category. Azerbaijan's Haji Aliyev stunned the 3-time World Championship medalist 12-5 on Friday in Tokyo.

Haji Aliyev was smart in his approach and got the better of Punia through counter-attacks as India's hopes of winning a gold medal in Wrestling also ended with Bajrang Punia's loss.

Punia will now take on Russian Olympic Committee's Gadzhimurad Rashidov on Saturday in the bronze medal match of men's 65kg freestyle wrestling.
