India stormed into the quarterfinals of Men's hockey after the team thrashed hosts Japan 5-3 on Friday evening. The confident win helped India register 4 victories from 5 outings in Pool A as they finished 2nd in the group.

Gurjant Singh was the star performer of the evening as he scored a brace along with a goal each from Nilakanta Sharma, Harmanpreet Singh, Shamsher Singh helped India win with ease. Veteran goalkeeper PR Sreejesh was also in top form as India kept control over the game despite an early defensive error.
After a heartbreaking & morale crushing loss to Australia in the tournament, this is India's third straight win and the team will be playing the quarterfinal on 1st August with a lot of confidence.
